Our Mission :

Whitney will prepare all students to be lifelong learners and productive community members through a commitment to high standards.
 

Our Vision:

The Whitney school community envisions each student taking responsibility for his/her learning in a safe and caring relationship centered environment, where risk-taking is celebrated and mistakes become opportunities to grow.

Our Collective Commitments:

1. SEL Commitments: We will have weekly SEL time built into our schedule and teach "how" to regulate emotions.
2. Behavioral Commitments: We will utilize our Tier 1 behavior strategies and interventions to include ROAR expectations, Wildcat Pride awards, flowchart, PBIS points and rewards, Zones of Regulation, and Second Steps.
3. Academic Commitments: We will measure and celebrate student growth based on each student’s starting point.

Our Collective Beliefs:

1. Positive relationships strengthen communication and learning.
2. Education develops students’ ability to think critically, integrate ideas and become positive members of a community.
3. Students learn best when actively engaged in the process of their own learning.
4. Relevant content presented in a safe and caring environment optimizes the ability to learn.

Schoolwide Goals:

1. We will increase our math SGP (Student Growth Percentile) for all students from 48 to 60 and we will increase from 34 to 60 for students with disabilities by 2024 as measured by daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress monitoring. 

2. By May of 2024 90% of students in grades K-5 will demonstrate typical, above typical, or well above typical composite growth or maintain benchmark in reading foundational skills as measured from the fall DIBELS benchmark assessment to the spring DIBELS benchmark testing using the Progress Growth Outcomes measurement tool or a like measurement tool. Target: We will increase our ELA proficiency for ELs from 15% to 50% by 2024 with a yearly increase of 12% as measured by WSIF trend data.

3. By the end of school year 2023, all school staff will apply core practices and language from two evidence-based SEL programs, Second Step and Zones of Regulation. The results of the yearly school climate survey will demonstrate an increase in positive responses from students and families, and an increase will occur among all identified demographic groups.
